The Role The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial information for decision-making. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of financial processes and supporting business objectives through effective financial management. Role Responsibilities Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), or other relevant standards. Assist in preparing management reports and presentations for senior stakeholders. General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations. Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning. Analyse variances between actuals and budgets/forecasts, providing insights and recommendations. Tax Compliance: Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax regulations. Collaborate with external advisors to manage tax audits and filings. Audit and Compliance: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance. Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs. Optimise working capital through effective accounts payable and receivable management. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. Stay updated on industry developments and accounting standards to ensure best practices. Education and Experience Requirements As the Finance Assistant, you will have: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (completed or in progress). 3 years of experience in financial accounting or a similar role. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Thorough understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
