Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Humber for a full time Specialty Doctor to work in a well-established Old Age Psychiatry inpatient team.
Maister Lodge is a 14 bedded Inpatient unit providing a comprehensive, needs led service to patients who are experiencing organic mental health problems.
The ward has undergone major renovation works meaning that the environment is well suited for patients with a diagnosis of dementia.
The post holder will join an established team of Specialist Consultant Psychiatrists in Old Age alongside a wider established network of consultants covering all sub-specialties. There is weekly teaching and weekly peer-group events to support professional and personal development.
Main duties of the job
The service is supported by a dedicated service manager and a Modern Matron who provide operational and clinical support and oversight to the team.
Care is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team comprising a range of professional disciplines including registered Mental Health nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, healthcare support workers, clinical psychologists, junior medics and psychiatrists

Job description
Job responsibilities
As a Specialty Doctor working for Maister Lodge, you will have responsibility for the provision of safe and effective care and treatment. You will share the vision of integrated and multi-disciplinary working and actively engage in the development of the service through research and support.
The post holder would be expected to be approved as a Responsible Clinician or be willing to undertake training to obtain Section 12(2) MHA and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures.

1. Relevant Medical Qualifications
2. Section 12 Approval (or apply within 6 months of offer)

3. Experience of working in psychiatry
4. Experience of working older adult patients

5. have been engaged in medical practice for three out of the last five years including the most recent 12 months.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

6. Excellent knowledge in specialty
7. The diagnosis and management of complex mental illness.
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
9. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
10. Ability to assess and manage psychiatric emergencies and act independently
