Site Manager – Scotland & North East

Murphy are currently recruiting for a Site Manager to join our award-winning Energy team covering the National Gas AGI Replacement Scheme 2024. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Site Manager will be responsible for aspects of a small/medium sized project or several small projects with an indicative value of up to £1M - 30M across Scotland and the North East.
Following the ‘One Murphy’ approach, we’re able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients including National Grid, Cadent Gas, OPA, SGN, National Grid Ventures, on both transmission and distribution networks. Our projects include Compressor stations, Natural Gas and LNG Terminals, AGI’s, pipelines and diversions.
What you will be doing:
1. To plan and deliver all work on a small/medium sized site or a few smaller sites, ensuring work is completed on time and to the agreed standard.
2. To ensure short and medium contract programmes are planned, reviewed, and delivered.
3. To monitor progress periodically against the project plan and monitor expenditure for labour plant & materials, resolving issues but may escalate critical operational issues to the Project Manager.
4. Line management of Section Managers and other workflow supervisors/contractors.
5. Provide periodic updates to clients on project/contract progress, typically operational in nature.
6. Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed as and when required
7. Review plant, labour, and materials to ensure resources are in place for the short to medium term (1-3 months).
8. Liaise with the Project Manager to resolve any technical issues outside of the scope of works.
9. Liaise with the Project manager and Quantity Surveyor to align forecast and deliverables.
10. To comply with company standards, policies, and procedures.
11. Establish and maintain close working relationships with the Murphy team and ensure appropriate level of client/subcontractor engagement to ensure safe timely completion of all site activities.
12. Close coordination of all sites-based activities in line with customer specifications and procedures.
Who are we looking for?
13. HNC Building Studies or a degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.
14. Experience in delivering Civil Engineering / Construction Schemes
15. Extensive background in site/contract management delivering contracts of similar value.
16. Solid health and safety knowledge and will hold a health and safety related qualification.
17. Ability to travel and work away when required.
