About The Role
Our manufacturing sites are fast paced, ever-demanding and complex. Therefore it's vital we have a strong Engineering team who are able to keep up to the demands of the site. It's ultimately our responsibility to minimise machinery downtime whilst identifying ways to improve performance without impacting on the quality of our produce and Engineer engagement.
We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join our team; your role will involve developing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems and processes at our large, fast paced manufacturing sites.
1. Design and develop automation solutions: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and implement automation systems, ensuring solutions align with manufacturing requirements and industry standards.
2. System integration and troubleshooting: Integrate automation systems with existing equipment and processes. Resolve technical issues promptly, minimising downtime and optimising production efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
3. Business Continuity with respect to Automated Systems: Proactively implement sustainable ways of working, asset improvements and resilience to ensure critical assets are always available for production when required with minimal disruption through failure.
4. Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation and automation enhancements. Conduct feasibility studies, provide recommendations, and calculate cost-benefit analysis and ROI for automation projects.
5. Programming and configuration: Develop and maintain PLC programs, HMI interfaces, and other automation software. Ensure proper configuration and functionality.
6. Safety and compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures and stay updated with relevant regulations.
7. Automation & Electrical Obsolescence & Future-Proofing: Work with external supplier partners and from own knowledge/experience, develop a repeatable process to identify, track and manage areas of risk through obsolescence.
8. Documentation and training: Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Train operators and maintenance personnel. Provide technical support.
About You
We're looking for someone who has a strong background in Engineering, used to working at pace and wanting to help a business meet its targets. As well as this you will:
1. Have an in-depth knowledge of robotics, motion control, and vision systems.
2. A proven track record in an engineering and fault finding role gained from a FMCG environment ideally.
3. A good understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE qualification up to 17th edition wiring regulations would be advantageous.
4. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and principles.
5. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality results.
9. Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
