Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Registered Children's Nurse to support the continuing development of the Paediatric Cardiology service at Darent Valley Hospital, for a period of 12 months as maternity cover. This will be a secondment opportunity. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative Registered Children's Nurse to join our Paediatric Service to work as part of our specialist nursing team across Paediatrics.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of something exceptional in this patch of Kent, the Garden of England. We envisage a dynamic team incorporating specialist nurses working alongside children's and adult teams, evolving and offering an excellent service for children and young people within the locality, forging strong links with community and tertiary services.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work across children's and adult services providing clinical, specialist and holistic support/advice to children and young people with a diagnosis of a cardiology condition.
We are looking for you to apply if you are a motivated clinical senior children's nurse, with knowledge and experience in paediatric Cardiology, preferably including transition. You will have excellent interpersonal, IT and communication skills with the ability to organise, manage and plan your own workload effectively. You will be dedicated and passionate in your role working with children and young people whilst demonstrating excellent leadership and team working. You will be energetic and dedicated in working as an advocate in support of our children, young people and their families.

The successful applicant will set up and run joint and nurse led clinics in conjunction with Consultant colleagues to offer the highest level of care to the patient caseload. The role will provide highly specialised support and advice via different means of technology. You will be expected to provide advice and support in relation to management of cardiology conditions pertinent to children and young people and will be expected to provide clinical and educational support to staff within the a team we are committed to recruiting staff who uphold our values and can deliver excellent care, putting young people at the heart of everything we do whilst working in partnership with young people and their families to provide the best possible experience.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Registered Children's Nurse
2. Diploma or Degree.
3. Experience with dealing with families and children with cardiology conditions
4. Teaching/Mentorship qualification
5. Completed or willing to undertake a qualification in management of children with Cardiology disorders
6. Evidence of continuing professional development

7. Degree in cardiology Nursing

8. Minimum of 2 years at Band 6 grade which includes working with children with cardiology conditions
9. 3 years General Paediatrics experience
10. Ward / Day Care/outpatients Management Experience
11. Previous experience in teaching of children, families & staff
12. Experience of undertaking PDR's and day to day supervision of staff

13. Previous Outpatient experience ideally including insight into running Nurse Led Clinics
14. Experience of supervising a ward/ department on a shift basis
15. Previous experience in audit and evaluation
