Property & Casualty Underwriter (Part-Time, Job-Share, Full-Time)

The opportunity:
Do you have experience in Property and Casualty underwriting? Are you looking for a new challenge? If so, we would love to hear from you. As a market underwriter in Zurich Municipal, you will be working on all lines of business, but we would like you to hit the ground running with the Property &/or Casualty line of business.
This is a unique opportunity to build your knowledge and experience for the future as all our Underwriters in Zurich Municipal underwrite all lines of business, offering a truly bespoke and personalised service to a range of customers in the Public Sector – from housing to charities.
This role will be challenging and there will be a lot to learn; to make sure you are supported all the way you will be joining an experienced team where development is key. There will also be opportunities to obtain qualifications such as CII.
Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. What will you be doing?
As a Market Underwriter, some of your key activities include:
* Deliver against underwriting & financial measures as outlined in the plan.
* Demonstrate market visibility & underwriting expertise.
* Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business-related needs, as appropriate.
* Qualify accounts to meet the organisation's appetite, consistent with sound business opportunities.
* Accurately select, assess and price risk in line with underwriting mentorship.
* Make clear recommendations for market pricing, backed up by strong rationale and confident decision-making.
* Have an external presence within the Public Sector visiting our customers regularly ensuring you fully understand their risk & insurance requirements.
* Serve as a key Zurich contact for our customers.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will have experience in Property and Casualty underwriting and with some experience behind you, we would expect you to tick some of these boxes. If you are dedicated and willing to learn, we would like to hear from you!
* Property &/or Casualty underwriting experience essential
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong negotiation skills.
* Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis and win-win negotiating.
* Ability to effectively assess risk.
* Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing, regulations and guidelines would be beneficial but not essential
* Cert or DiP CII Qualified or actively working towards accreditation.
