The Job Role/Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as part of the Fleet department of a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team, looking after all aspects of the fleet vehicles & plant equipment for Lancashire County Council. Day to day you will have a range of responsibilities as you oversee projects through the full life cycle.
Key responsibilities:
1. Assisting with the procurement process by analysing existing vehicle age and vehicle spec
2. Liaising with service users to get an idea of their needs with new vehicles
3. Communicating with workshops with regards to vehicle conditions and arranging disposal of vehicles coming out of the fleet
4. Lead on Fleet projects and initiatives ensuring successful delivery.
5. Updating of fleet records on the system
6. Scheduling LOLER inspections
The Job Requirements:
Applicants will preferably possess a recognised vocational or professional Mechanical qualification, plus a detailed knowledge and broad experience of running and monitoring the costs of multiple vehicle types. The ideal candidate will have a good technical appreciation of vehicle & plant repair.
The candidate will co-ordinate fleet inspections when required and will monitor & report on the fleet condition & the compliance of the fleet.
Applicants must be able to build lasting relationships with end users and manufacturers in order to get a clear picture of what is needed.
