This is an excellent opportunity to join the Streetscene Transport Team assisting with the maintenance of the Councils diverse vehicle fleet of HGV’s and LGV’s.
The role is an excellent career opportunity for newly trained light goods/commercial vehicle mechanics who may wish to develop their skills across a wider diverse range of vehicles and become a qualified MOT tester.
If appointed to the post, you will receive training, support and the opportunity to work with our successful Transport Team. Candidates must have some vehicle mechanic experience and vehicle maintenance qualifications to maintain, inspect and repair a range of vehicles and operational plant. Pay will be dependent on experience and qualifications and will be career graded as appropriate.
The successful applicant will be required to work from our transport facilities predominantly at Eckington inclusive of other Council establishments. There may be a requirement to work on occasional Saturdays which attracts an additional payment.
A category B driving licence is required as a minimum with a willingness to work towards Category C licence and a Driver CPC qualification. Experience in the maintenance of municipal refuse collection vehicles, street cleansing vehicles and industrial grounds maintenance plant would be an advantage, however further training would be offered to applicants with a light goods/commercial vehicle experience.
In return, we offer a range of employee benefits including, 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays rising to 35 days annual leave following five years continuous service, discounted access to our four leisure centres and 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
