An opportunity has arisen for an exciting position within the Patient Management Centre. Applications are invited for an enthusiastic person to apply for the role of Patient Centre Clerk. The post holder will be the first point of call for patients querying their appointments and will be required to provide an efficient telephone service to the general public and all staff. This job role will also include other administrative tasks relevant to the department.
As part of a team, to be responsible for making appointments for patients and re-arranging appointments as appropriate, or to take patient details for further appointments to be made.
Ability to use local hospital systems, NHS spine and the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS) to fulfil the duties of this role.
To deal with any communications and problems that may arise from various sources, including dealing with difficult patients. To be aware of the Trust’s policy on handling complaints and to comply accordingly.
Maintain an accurate audit trail for all referrals and appointment amendments.
To maintain good communication and relationships with patients, clinicians, GP surgeries and directorates.
Computer/IT literate, good telephone manner, able to work on own initiative, good verbal & written communication, ability to organise/prioritise work, attention to detail and previous experience of working in an office environment.
