Job summary
The post holder will provide a high-quality analytical service to the Directorate, producing robust and effective financial analysis and intelligence in line with the Directorate's remit.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is a finance trainee within the Directorate who will contribute to the delivery of the Directorate's objectives.
Support the design, creation and development of appropriate new databases, reports and processes to capture data and provide financial analysis to ensure internal and external stakeholders receive high quality, accurate information to inform assessments and decision making.
Provide direct support to the Assistant Directors in the robust monitoring of in-year delivery and plans for key areas of delivery. This includes the development of monthly reports for organisations analysing financial trends and the application of analysis tools to scenario test and risk assess organisations' performance and forecasts to give assurance on in-year delivery.
Support the development of innovative solutions to ensuring that financial analysis provided by the Directorate is consistently robust, maximises insight, and gives clear messages for the potential for further financial performance improvement.
Provide direct support to the senior team in the production of new financial frameworks to deliver on key priority areas for Welsh Government such as improvements in forecasting, financial planning, and risk management.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
