Job Description
Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our client in Ballymena to recruit a permanent part time cleaner/ domestic assistant.
The candidate hired will be responsible to provide clean, tidy and safe spaces for the residents/tenants within their sheltered scheme, ensuring high standards of cleaning and a quality service.
Duties
1. Carry out cleaning (vacuum, dust, wash, polish and maintain hygiene) of the building and its environment to ensure a clean and safe working environment as directed.
2. Communicate clearly with tenants regarding their requirements.
3. Assist the Scheme Coordinator in the provision of services, eg Lunch Club and Coffee Mornings.
4. Set tables, trays or serve meals to tenants and assist in the kitchen in the preparation of meals to tenants.
5. Ensure the grounds of the scheme are kept tidy and free from litter.
6. Deputise for the Scheme Coordinator when requested.
7. Undertake activities, where appropriate, representing the Association in a respectful and mutually supportive manner to external groups or the general public.
8. Conduct all activities in a manner which is safe to yourself and others acting at all times in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy.
Employees represent the Association and should attend work neat, tidy and clean in appearance which includes their work area/clear desk in line with the Code of Conduct and Health and Safety policy.
Undertake other delegated duties appropriate to the scope and function of the grade of post including cover duties during periods of absence e.g., sickness, annual leave.
Promote and ensure compliance with the Association`s statutory Equality Duties.
Criteria
9. Previous cleaning/domestic experience in a paid or voluntary capacity
10. Experience of different types of cleaning equipment and materials used in cleaning/domestic and laundry capacity
11. Sufficiently fluent in English to assist tenants, their families and visitors
12. Prepared to undertake training
13. Specialist Knowledge
14. Knowledge of relevant safe working practices, including COSHH
15. Ability to follow cleaning procedures and schedules to a high standard and in a timely manner
16. Good organisational skills
17. Flexible approach to work
18. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
19. Ability to be empathetic to the needs of tenants

Successful applicants may be required to complete a Basic Disclosure Check. Having a criminal conviction will not necessarily debar an applicant from working with the Association. Disclosure information will be handled in line with the Access NI Code of Practice and the Rehabilitation of Offenders (NI) Order 1978.
Role will be working 14hrs a week - salary £11.57hr
The work can be over 2-3 days between the hours of 9am and 5pm
