Sulzer, a global leader in fluid engineering and chemical processing applications, is expanding its team at our advanced pump design and manufacturing facility in Leeds. To support this, we are seeking a dedicated Supplier Quality Inspector to join our team.
As a Supplier Quality Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our suppliers meet stringent quality standards. You will conduct witness inspections, manage non-conformance issues, and work closely with internal departments to ensure timely and compliant delivery of products. Additionally, you will attend all First Off inspections for machined components, fabrications, and factored goods to set the standard for all units and ensure consistent quality across the board.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
1. Supplier Inspections: Perform in-process, notified, and final inspections at supplier sites. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure resolution prior to delivery, or establish a remedial work plan.
2. First Off Inspections: Attend all First Off inspections for machined components, fabrications, and factored goods to establish and uphold the quality standards expected for all units.
3. Supplier Quality Kick-Off Meetings: Engage in kick-off meetings to ensure suppliers fully understand project requirements.
4. Cross-Department Collaboration: Liaise with relevant departments to resolve conflicts or unclear specifications related to supplier quality, ensuring smooth operations.
5. NCR Management: Notify suppliers of non-conforming items and provide technical guidance for rectification. Manage queries to minimize production disruptions and regularly update NCRs.
6. Auditing: Conduct audits for new suppliers and manage the supplier audit schedule, including in-process audits.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
7. Completed an engineering apprenticeship or other qualifications relevant to the role.
8. Experience in an inspection environment.
9. Relevant certifications such as NDT, CSWIP, NACE, or CompEx are advantageous.
10. Knowledge and experience working with castings, forgings, fabrications, machining, electrical components, and coatings.
11. Relevant industry experience with knowledge of industry practices and standards.
12. Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis.
13. A valid UK Driving License and willingness to travel.
