Sheridan Maine are working exclusively with a leading client on the outskirts of Bournemouth, to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to join their business. As Financial Controller within this Group of companies, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic insights across the group.
We are seeking someone who is keen to find a role where they can have longevity and develop in the business. With a strong background in accounting and finance, excellent analytical skills, whilst being able to work in a dynamic evolving environment supporting the development of financial processes and systems. You must also be a good communicator and have the ability to manage the work of others.
Key areas of responsibility for the Financial Controller:
1. Managing a small team and having oversight of all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
2. Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports
3. Support month-end and year-end close processes
4. Assist in the management of group company accounting personnel activities and performance
5. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
6. Risk Management and Identify and manage financial risks
7. Ensure compliance with legal reporting requirements and tax filings
8. Research technical accounting issues to maintain compliance
9. Provide others with technical/expert support as required
10. Adapt to the organisation’s evolving needs by taking on other controller duties as necessary
Experience and Skills:
11. Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA
12. Proven working experience as a Financial Controller or within a similar role
13. Aptitude to work as part of a team and as a team leader
14. At least 5 years of combined accounting and finance experience
15. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
16. Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions
17. Proficiency in accounting software usage and administration
