This role will be generally helping the Senior Estimator prepare and win new tenders for the business. You will need to assist as well as manage the production of tender documents, attend pre-tender and post-tender interviews, and ultimately produce detailed and accurate tenders for all industry sectors up to approximately £5m.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Liaise and support client engagement before, during and following the tender process to fully understand the client's requirements.
2. Assist in the preparation of tender submissions to ensure they are submitted accurately and on time.
3. Conduct take offs and produce Bill of Quantities on projects up to approximately £5m.
4. Engage with the supply chain to obtain accurate quotes for materials and services to establish true cost estimates.
5. Understand and present financial overviews of tenders and their value for adjudication.
6. Help to develop new business by introducing new tender opportunities.
7. Work with the existing pre-construction team to view project information and complete tenders.
8. Prepare a handover pack and presentation for the construction team when handing over secured tenders.
9. Work closely and assist with the pre-construction team on quality questions and further bid requirements.
10. Communicate regularly and effectively with all team members.
11. Help ensure that the Company maintains its image for quality and value for money within its budget and profit targets.
KNOWLEDGE:
1. A strong knowledge of building industry practices, processes, and requirements.
2. Ability to communicate and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
3. Knowledge of a range of different construction techniques, including sustainable and environmental construction and their practical implications.
4. Ability to work to timescales under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
5. Excellent attention to detail.
6. Possess a good level of practical skill in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 2 years' experience as an estimator and working within the preconstruction department.
2. Good technical construction knowledge.
3. Construction related degree (preferred but not essential).
4. Good time management skills.
5. Full driving licence.
