The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) aims to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds.
The aim of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats, and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.
What you will be doing
1. Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team
2. Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance
3. Development, motivation & performance management of junior staff
4. Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
5. Preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
6. Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation
7. Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
8. Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
9. Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
10. Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
11. Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements
12. Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required
13. Positive engagement with Client equivalent position
Who we are looking for
14. BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (or equivalent qualification)
15. Strong civil and/or rail background (essential)
16. CSCS (White / Gold Card)
17. Full driving licence & flexible with travel.
18. Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract (NEC) and Standard Methods of Measurement
19. Strong communication within presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others
20. Experience within a construction/engineering/similar and commercial background
