An opportunity has arisen with the Hepatology specialist nursing team to recruit a Band 6 Hepatology Specialist Nurse for 12 months. We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic nurse to help with the continued development of this service. Previous experience within the Hepatology setting is desirable, however the successful candidate will be given training and development to enable them to undertake this role.
The Hepatology Specialist Nurse will provide a service to support the care of patients with acute and chronic liver disease through different stages of their care treatment. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work in dynamic and often novel approaches, you will be organised, motivated and person centred.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside the band 7 hepatology CNS and Consultant Hepatologist who will support the development of this role, and specialist training will be given. You will liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. You will play a key role in the development of the Hepatology service within the Trust whilst being proactive in pioneering and developing the role in response to changes in practice and healthcare needs.

5. Intermediate life support course
6. Venepuncture and cannulation course

7. Experience in looking after patients with liver disease - both inpatient and outpatient settings
Knowledge

8. Demonstrable post registration experience
9. Ability to negotiate, influence, support and motivate others
10. Ability to network, build and maintain credibility at all levels
11. Advanced clinical skills including cannulation and venepuncture

12. Experience of clinical audit
