We have a very exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 3 Nutrition Support Worker into the existing team of Nutrition Support Sisters which is expanding here at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust.
The demand for our Nutrition service is increasing, which is reflected in the need to expand the Nutrition Nurse Specialist Team. This role is to complement our current service, to help co-ordinate care, educate and support inpatients, oncology patients, and those in our local community who are living with enteral feeding tubes.
It requires the successful candidate to have excellent communication skills to liaise and collaborate with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and patients.
The role is ideal for someone who has previous experience working with patients with feeding tubes or those with oncology experience. Those who enjoy a challenge, work autonomously, and feel comfortable with patients and I.T systems would benefit from applying.
The Nutrition Support Worker will work as part of a team sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the service in line with Trust performance targets. This post will support the nutrition nurses with the day-to-day care of both inpatients and outpatients, including taking/responding to telephone calls, emails, and healthcare professional concerns, supporting in the administration tasks such as booking procedures and maintaining the team’s database. There will be opportunities to develop patient-facing skills with support such as simple wound dressings of feeding tubes and patient education involving the enteral feeding pumps. The post holder will support in coordinating care by providing a single point of contact for patients, including rapid re-entry into the system for those identified as having urgent or specialist needs.

They will be crucial in contributing to the overall effective running of the service.
