Your new role
The Customs and Tradepliance Officer will play a critical role in ensuring that all their product import activitiesply with national and international customs regulations and trade laws. This position requires a meticulous and proactive individual who can navigate theplexities of customs procedures, tradepliance, and regulatory requirements efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customspliance: Ensure all import transactionsply with national and international customs laws and regulations. Prepare, review, and submit all necessary customs documentation required for the clearance of imported products.
2. Tradepliance: Stay abreast of changes in trade policies, agreements, and regulations that may affect thepany’s import operations. Advise on tariff classifications, value declaration, and duty management to optimise trade benefits andply with legal standards.
3. Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between thepany and customs authorities, trade regulators, and other relevant bodies. Ensure effectivemunication and resolve anypliance issues that may arise.
4. Risk Management: Conduct audits and assessments of import processes and documentation to identify potentialpliance risks. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
5. Training and Development: Educate staff on customs and tradepliance policies and procedures. Foster a culture ofpliance throughout the organisation.
6. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve customs and tradepliance processes and systems to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensurepliance.
What you'll need to succeed
7. A minimum of 3 years of experience in customs and tradepliance, preferably in food and beverage or a related sector, is required.
8. In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, tradepliance, and international trade agreements.
9. Strong understanding of the importation process, including documentation, classification, and valuation.
10. Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customs authorities and regulatory bodies.
11. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
12. Proficiency in customs and tradepliance software and systems.
