Production Engineer
Knauf UK & Ireland are a market-leading manufacturer of lightweight building materials for the construction industry. We are part of the Knauf Group, the world's largest producer of gypsum-based products for the construction industry.
We are currently recruiting for a Production Engineer to join our team in Immingham.

The Production Engineer is responsible for optimising production processes, ensuring high product quality, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) in our plasterboard production facility. This role involves conducting daily process checks, managing improvement projects, guiding plant personnel, designing mechanical parts, and performing data analysis to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Production Engineer plays a critical role in enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities include:
1. Adhere to Knauf Health and Safety policies and procedures, as well as UK HSE laws and regulations to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
2. Maintain high standards of Health and Safety, Quality and security in the work environment, ensuring compliance with ISO and Knauf standards.
3. Conduct routine inspections and checks of production processes to ensure smooth operation and adherence to quality standards.
4. Oversee short and mid-term projects aimed at meeting and exceeding production KPIs related to efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
5. Provide technical guidance and support to plant personnel, ensuring best practices are followed and operational issues are promptly addressed.
6. Conduct regular process reviews and recommend further adjustments as needed.
7. Design and draw small-scale mechanical parts required for process improvements and equipment modifications.
8. Lead and execute continuous improvement and Statistical Process Control (SPC) projects on the production line to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
9. Perform data analysis to identify trends, uncover inefficiencies, and develop actionable insights for process enhancements.
10. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, engineering, and production management, to drive cohesive and effective process improvements.
Requirements:
1. Professional experience in plasterboard production or other production experience that the employer deems equivalent.
2. Able to manage simultaneous projects.
3. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
4. Great problem solving and analytical skills.
5. Ability to work with and influence others in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with working hours.
6. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP applications.
7. Educated to degree level or equivalent within a scientific or engineering discipline or relevant level experience.
