The Employability Co-ordinator will work to establish the new supported employment café at Huntingdon Community Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new project to support adults with a learning disability or autism to learn work skills based in a café environment.

You will have a blend of hospitality experience, excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to support people with disabilities to develop skills. Good baking skills are also required, as all goods sold within the cafe will be made onsite by the team

What will you be doing?
You will be supporting the establishment of a caf in a space within the day centre, delivering the vision of a community caf and driving this forward to make thecaf successful. This willincludeproposing and implementing innovative ideas to attract and engage the community.
You will create an inclusive and supportive environment for trainees to ensure an effective and outcome based service is delivered and the right support is provided to enable the trainees to gain the skills required.
As Coordinator, you will oversee the daily operation of the caf and production ofquality baked goodsto be sold, thepurchasing of required stock and money handling. You will also be responsible for meeting the standards required of Food Standard Agency and ensuring individuals are working in a safe environment.
We are looking for someone who will be as passionate as we are about the success of the cafe, someone who is self motivated, able to work on theirown initiative and who is used to prioritisingtasks on a daily basis.
You will be digitally proficient, able to use MS Word/Excel and confidentposting on social media.
About you
The successful candidate will have a blend of skills and qualities, the key attributes we are looking for include:
Experience in working in a caf or similar setting, adapting processes and tasks for people with a learning disability and/or autism.
Good communication and great interpersonal skills to interact with the adults we support, customers and the local community with a genuine interest in community engagement.
Confidently identify issues and find effective solutions quickly.
Have an understanding and patience for individuals with diverse needs. Prior experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism is highly beneficial.
Committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.
Be creative and deliver exciting ideas to attract and engage the community into the caf, identifying opportunities and taking initiative.
