Skills & Requirements for the Multimodal Customs / Operations Clerk:
Minimum of one year's experience in an Import Customs Entry position.
Experience with systems such as MultiFreight, Destin8, and Chief is ideal.
Ability to work unsupervised and collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities for the role of Multimodal Customs / Operations Clerk:
Complete all aspects of customs clearance entries from start to finish for imports and exports, dealing with various modes of transport Sea, Air, and Road.
Ensure all customs clearance declarations are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
Create job files for Import LCL, FCL, and Air shipments in the MultiFreight System.
Monitor bookings to ensure each shipment sails as planned, liaising with agents overseas and the internal sales department when required.
Monitor ETAs on all files created, updating customers accordingly when reworking vessel delays.
Request release from carrier and chase accordingly to ensure haulier is not delayed when collecting the container for delivery.
Liaise with customers directly to arrange delivery bookings and rework accordingly when required
Person Specification:
Previous experience in a similar Customs role.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Customs tariff and the application of relevant procedures.
Familiar with different export/import regimes and modes of transport.
Experience using deferment accounts and FAS payment systems.
Formal training and detailed knowledge of customs import & export processes.
Understanding the impact of incorrect or false information in Customs declarations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail for compiling documentation and interpreting legal requirements clearly for customers.
Strong interpersonal skills and confident communicator.
Good problem-solving capability and critical thinking skills.
Self-motivated with effective organizational skills.
Proficient in Windows-based applications and industry-standard software.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment ensuring clearance processes are completed compliantly and timely.
Package & Hours:
Salary: Dependent on experience.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 0900-1700.
Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays, with an additional merit day at 2 years+.
