The Role: Data Scientist
As a Data Scientist at PIB Group, you will work cross-functionally to solve key business challenges through the development and application of data science solutions. This role involves working on Large Language Models (LLMs) at scale for information retrieval, segmentation, and summarisation, as well as predictive and descriptive models for retention, pricing, new business acquiring, and more.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop, test, fine-tune and maintain machine learning models to solve key business problems in areas such as client retention, policy pricing models, risk modeling, etc.
2. Perform predictive modeling using a combination of tools and techniques such as SQL, Python, Spark, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing.
3. Implement LLM based solutions for document comparison, information retrieval, summarisation, and other descriptive, predictive or generative tasks.
4. Analyse large, complex datasets to uncover insights and understand key business challenges.
5. Work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and ensure models meet business needs.
6. Work with our AI/ML Engineers to productionise, and implement model monitoring, model recalibration, and model performance reporting.
7. Develop scalable solutions that can be integrated into production environments.
8. Present modeling performance results and data insights clearly to senior leadership.
9. Keep up to date with the latest advancements in data science and machine learning.
Requirements:
1. 2+ years' experience building and deploying machine learning models in a commercial setting.
2. Expert knowledge of Python, SQL, and common data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciKit-Learn, PySpark, Streamlit, Transformers, Pytorch, LangChain, LangGraph, MLflow, etc.)
3. Strong statistics and machine learning fundamentals.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
1. Postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering or any related quantitative field.
2. Familiarity with MLOps and CI/CD.
3. Experience in the insurance or financial services industry.
4. Knowledge of LLMs and NLP techniques and libraries.
5. Experience with big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, etc.
6. Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS SageMaker, Glue, Athena, Lambda, etc.
