Principal Materials / Corrosion Engineer
Initial 12 Month Contract
Brentford, London – Hybrid working of 3 days per week in office and 2 days per week from home
A Principal Materials and Corrosion Engineer is required to work on an initial 12 month contract basis to be based in Brentford, London on a hybrid working set up.
As the Principal Materials & Corrosion Engineer, you will ideally also have experience in areas such as welding, NDT and coatings.
Overview:
The role of Lead Engineer is a key Leadership role, being responsible for the day to day supervision and coordination of the Materials and Corrosion Engineering and Design team assigned to a project. Candidates shall have a proven track record of superior leadership skills in a complex multi-office environment and the ability to provide innovative solutions to clients.
Responsibilities:
* Manage projects as Lead Engineer and ensure proper and timely execution of projects ensuring the Discipline quality management system and any project specific contractual requirements are met.
* Provide leadership skills with the ability to handle large teams in a multi-office environment.
* Responsible for Materials and Corrosion activities and deliverables, such as:
- Philosophies
- Engineering Specifications
- Materials Selection
- Development of Reports/Studies
- Corrosion Assessment Calculations
- Corrosion Assessment
- Material Selection Diagrams
- Cathodic Protection Design
- Technical Bid Evaluations
- Material Requisitions
- Maintenance of the client specifications and standards
- Liaising with counterparts in other offices
- Awareness and review of emerging codes and technologies
* Deliver quality, accurate and timely work to the client and its customers
* Work under minimal supervision while maintaining the ability to deliver assigned projects on budget and on time
* Ensure effective communications among other engineering disciplines, project management and Client teams
* Define the discipline scope of work and the required resources
* Participate in daily meetings, project status meetings and report on project status, progress, delays, change notices, performance measurement, lessons learned and close-out
* Assume responsibility for cost, schedule, material quantities, quality and budget control
* Ensure effective management of change
* Participate in meetings with other members of the project team and Client representatives
* Take personal responsibility for safety and a healthy environment on the projects
* Contribute to the development and growth of people (e.g. coach junior engineers)
* Produce proposals for projects which involve man hour- and schedule estimates related to the discipline scope of work
* Add value and optimization ideas
* The successful candidate must be a driven professional with strong commercial & business acumen
Qualifications:
* Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy (preferably Chartered Engineer)
* Proven experience in Materials and Corrosion engineering and design in the Oil & Gas, chemical/petrochemical markets
* Good understanding of requirements of other departments and interfaces in engineering
* Thorough knowledge of applicable international codes and standards and major Company/Operators standards
* Experience leading (large) teams
* Experience with Project controls, Scheduling and progressing
* Experience in FEED and Detail Engineering projects with exposure to field engineering activities
* Ability to organize and set priorities
* Ability to communicate and present effectively
* Good communication skills with peers and customers
