Project Engineer Location: Fairford Contract: Permanent We are currently working with a global provider of engineered electronics for performance-critical applications. The Fairford’s site focus is to design and manufacture of electronic components and assemblies serving for clients in industries like aerospace, defense, medical and industrial. Role Requirements – Project Engineer Work cross functionally through the business to support Project Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Process Improvement Project Teams, quotations and procurement Support all aspects of production process. Investigate true root cause of failures create and support concessions, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for customers as required. Create and control manufacturing instructions and implement engineering changes to production. Create and control all changes through required change control process. Manage engineering for New Product Introductions (NPI). Liaise with customers, both internal and external, understanding customer requirements, specifications, and drawings. Translate customer information into internal documentation, including but not limited to: design packs, general assembly drawings, wiring diagrams/schematics, Bill of Materials (BoM), Work Instructions, Test methods and both electrical and mechanical manufacturing drawings. Collaboratively drive production efficiencies including running Kaizen events and applying LEAN methodologies, identifying, and tracking opportunities for improvement. Review build practices and look to implement test jigs, fixtures and process improvements to help drive quality improvements. Monitor manufacturing processes to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards. Be pro-active in health & safety matters to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all employees within the production department. Provide daily, weekly and monthly data and analytics to the business. Identifying, documenting, and reporting unsafe practices. The ideal candidate for Project Engineer role would have: Sound engineering background with relevant qualifications and experience. Degree Qualified or recognised apprenticeship. Proven experience in the engineering field. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a rapport with both internal and external customers. Positive ‘can do’ attitude. An understanding of configuration control and product structure, preferable but not essential, experience with the following: Autodesk Autocad, Solidworks, Fusion, Vault, & Inventor (or similar design software). An ability to convey technical engineering issues to less technical colleagues. A problem solver who looks to continuously improve and find customer focussed solutions. Knowledge of the Design for Manufacture principles and the ability to apply these to new and current designs. Superb written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make decisions under pressure.
