Hays Property and Surveying are seeking a Graduate Building Surveyor to join an independent surveying and design practice based in the New Forest, Hampshire. The company is a long-established surveying and design practice offering a range of architectural and building surveying services to clients across the Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset area. Their highly experienced building surveying department provides professional building surveying advice to clients across the commercial property and private residential sectors. The department is now looking to appoint a new Graduate Building Surveyor to join the team. The role will be based from their offices located in the New Forest, with travel predominantly across the Southampton, New Forest, Bournemouth and Salisbury areas. Your new role As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will gain experience in a broad range of professional Building Surveying work, assisting the wider team to provide expertise to a portfolio of clients. Workloads will encompass a variety of commercial and residential properties including, offices, industrial space, retail units and private mid to upper-market residential houses. You will be provided with the support to develop your professional knowledge and experience by working closely with the department Directors, who hold a strong and successful track record of supporting graduates through their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). Key responsibilities - Assist with and conduct detailed building surveys and inspections of commercial and residential properties. Prepare comprehensive reports, including condition surveys, dilapidation reports, and schedules of condition. Advise clients on building defects, maintenance, and repairs. Assist with managing and overseeing refurbishment and renovation projects, ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards. Conduct feasibility studies and prepare specifications for building works. Develop your professional skills and knowledge whilst working towards your APC. What you'll need to succeed Hold a degree in Building Surveying (RICS Accredited) Desirably, have some practical experience in building surveying or a construction environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an acute attention to detail. Self-driven and highly personable. Preferably have sound geographical knowledge of the Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire area. Hold a full UK driving licence.
