The Role As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of the BIOS, BSPs, and additional software for Concurrent’s new and existing products. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop and maintain the software in the UFEI BIOS. Board Support Packages for cutting edge Intel processor-based boards. Middleware, system and device driver software for Linux, Windows, VxWorks and other standard operating systems. Test software Support in the definition of product and software architecture Taking a hands-on approach to early hardware bring-up Work on challenging customer issues that get escalated to engineering team. Supporting project managers of coordination of deliverables The hardware and software platforms vary, but most of the devices used are complex and a good appreciation of the hardware is desired for this role. Qualifications and Experience Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field Proficient in Embedded C programming for x86, PowerPC or high-performance ARM processors. Practical experience programming a variety of hardware devices at register level. Good appreciation of hardware. Excellent problem solving and debugging skills. Mentoring of engineers in software development and debug Ability to work and effectively communicate with team members Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git Desirable: Experience of developing UFEI BIOS Experience developing low-level, embedded software for Linux or a similar operating system. Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git Experience in leading technical projects or working as a technical lead in software development Ability to drive technical decisions and provide input into the future direction of the platform’s architecture The ability to communicate effectively with others within the company at an Engineering level is an important additional attribute.
