Development Chemist (9 Month Maternity Cover)

Metrohm UK are seeking a Development Chemist to join our method development laboratory in Daresbury, near Runcorn, in Cheshire. The role is a temporary (maternity cover) position for nine months, ready for immediate start. Metrohm are global manufacturers and providers of analytical instruments.

A unique role is on offer, allowing you to work on completely different projects and improve your analytical development skill sets on a wide range of applications.

Applicant Profile:
1. The role is available for immediate start, so no/or a short notice period is preferred.
2. A recent graduate looking to build skills and experience or someone from a lab background looking to improve their skill sets.
3. A degree in chemistry (or a closely related discipline) is essential.
4. It is not essential to have any practical knowledge of Metrohm equipment, this full training will be provided.
Ideal candidates will have good troubleshooting skills, will be able to organise & prioritise multiple tasks, have strong communication skills and will be methodical & trustworthy.
Role: Reporting to the UK Laboratory Manager. Developing analytical chemistry applications for Metrohm UK customers, based on auto titration, Karl Fischer and ion chromatography (IC).
Maintaining laboratory operations including preparation of stock/calibration solutions, tracking of equipment in the field, cleaning, preparing glassware for subsequent applications & assisting to maintain an active laboratory.
Package:
1. Equivalent salary of £22,000-£27,000 dependant on experience.
2. Nine month contract.
3. Full training provided on all techniques.
