An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to supervise a team responsible delivering a programme of improvements, repairs and/or maintenance projects to the City Council's stock of dwellings, buildings and land managed by Housing & Landlord Services, ensuring work of the highest quality is maintained through continuous improvement, whilst ensuring value for money.
What will I be doing?
Primarily you’ll have responsibility and accountability for the planning, developing and control of programmes end to end including contract administration of contracts associated with all domestic property Kitchen refurbishment and Rewiring programmes.
You will need to be motivated and keen to drive teams to achieve targets.
You will be managing a number of staff, holding meetings with Contractors; where appropriate holding them to account using KPI’s, monitoring quality, and authorising payments.
You may be expected to move between or to other programmes as asset and investment strategies dictate such as external works & fire safety.
What do I need to have?
1. HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant construction field plus further relevant practical experience OR equivalent knowledge and skill demonstrated from significant relevant experience in a building, surveying or similar construction related environment.
2. Comprehensive experience of effective supervision of professional and technical staff, contractors, sub-contractors or developers.
3. Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety issues and requirements related to the Construction Industry, including CDM Regs and especially in relation to the project/programme area of work.
4. Ability to take ownership and be accountable for all aspects of the service/project/programme from end-to-end, ensuring delivery within timescales, high quality and excellent customer satisfaction in the Social Housing environment.
5. You must be comfortable to challenge poor workmanship, poor performance and an ability to manage a team to manage programme of works, working to budgetary and time constraints. Technical knowledge to write and interpret specifications, technical drawings and manufacturer’s instructions will also be required for this role.
