We have a fantastic opportunity for aSEND Passenger Assistant/Driver to join our Healthcare transportation team based in Surrey.
We have expanded our community service support and created a new division within our already established patient transport business and we are delivering care in the community by transporting Special Educational and Disability Needs (SEND) transport for children to and from healthcare facilities; ie schools and other learning hubs to repatriation and travel to specialist education centres.
Your role will be hugely rewarding, albeit challenging, however we can offer you the opportunity to become an invaluable colleague very quickly within our team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist children with special educational needs during transport to ensure their safety and well-being.
2. Driving carefully and considerately to safely drive children to and from their place of education using our vehicles.
3. Support children in boarding and alighting from the vehicle, providing any necessary physical assistance.
4. Maintain a calm and positive environment during transport, addressing any behavioural or emotional needs that may arise.
5. Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and school staff regarding transportation arrangements.
6. Ensure all safety EMED protocols are followed, including the use of seat belts and appropriate seating arrangements.
7. Familiar with the safeguarding policies.
8. Report any incidents or concerns promptly to your line Manager/Operations Manager.
9. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.
Hours
10. Part time only - Up to 20 hours per week available
11. Example shifts (these can vary depending on travel time) - 07:45-09:45 and 15:15-17:15
12. Monday – Friday, term time only
13. AM and/or PM shifts available
14. No weekend work

Do you have what it takes? A great SEND Passenger Assistant will be required to;
34. You will need a full UK driving licence with no more than three penalty points
35. Pass a DVLA D4 Medical.
36. Obtain and hold a PHV Licence

38. Display a calm, considerate and careful driver behaviour.

41. An Enhanced DBS check is required for all successful candidates which is fully funded by EMED Group
