Obstetrics & Gynaecology Simulation Lead
We are looking to recruit a Lead for Simulation Training in Obstetrics. This role offers a 3-year secondment with the possibility of extending this for a further 2 years.
This role will be 0.25 EMC which equates to 1 hour per week and £2500 per annum.
The post holder will be a member of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology School Board and will be expected to attend or provide written reports to the regular meetings (approximately 5 - 6 per year).
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be expected to take part in additional Board activities which include: the national appointments process, ARCP panels, and ATSM panel. They will also be expected to help complete the Annual Report and attend RCOG simulation meetings as required.
Job Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
* To be the named person responsible for the introduction, maintenance, and monitoring of the use of simulation in obstetrics in the Thames Valley.
* To attend meetings at the RCOG in relation to simulation training in obstetrics.
* To have an overview of all types of simulation, including high and low-fidelity models and simulation in all aspects of obstetrics, including (but not exclusively) obstetric emergencies, practical obstetrics, and obstetric ultrasound.
* To work with all Trusts and College Tutors within the HEE Thames Valley region to develop simulation in obstetrics.
* To map the requirements of trainees for simulation training with the RCOG curriculum and Training Matrix and be responsible for delivering this training.
* To work with the Gynaecology Simulation Lead and oversee the development and training of a faculty of educators in the field of simulation, including development of trainees.
Person Specification
Skills
* Ability to provide regular reports on activity to the Head of School.
Experience
* Demonstrate experience of using simulation as an educational tool - including human factors training.
* Ability to relate local application of simulation to the RCOG Education Strategy.
* Experience in an educational management or support role, e.g. clinical lead.
* Excellent communication skills - listening, empathy, ability to influence, need for confidentiality, etc.
* Full or co-opted member of School Board (Subject to Head of School's discretion).
Qualifications
* Primary clinical healthcare qualification.
* Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body.
* Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development - Train the trainers ROBuST.
