A Senior Materials Engineer is required to work on a permanent staff basis to work for a large Oil & Gas company based in either Central London or Milton Keynes that will offer a hybrid working set up of 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week working from home.
As a Senior Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for producing deliverables under the direction of the Lead Discipline Engineer. This will involve materials and corrosion-related project activities, prepare project engineering documents, lead new business development, and assist with team management and supporting development of junior engineers. You will also be involved with engineering studies and assisting in the performance of engineering studies and development projects for Upstream, Downstream, Renewables, Low Carbon Energy Markets, and New Markets. In this role, you will need to have excellent communication and team-playing skills, as well as a good understanding of material types, material selection, corrosion assessment, and material performance assessment.
Role Responsibilities will include:
* Managing internal and external client interfaces, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
* Developing project engineering documents such as Material Selection Diagrams, Material Selection reports, Paint and lining specifications, insulation specifications, welding specifications.
* Undertaking materials and corrosion-related project activities, applying your expertise to achieve project objectives.
* Supporting and contributing to the development of team design tools and best practices.
* Preparation of Engineering studies, taking responsibility for their successful execution.
* Supporting new business developments, including proposal preparation, negotiation, and winning new work.
* Assisting team management and providing mentorship to junior engineers.
The ideal candidate would have:
* A minimum of a degree in Materials Engineering with professional status (or working towards).
* Previous experience in relevant materials-related employment.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Strong understanding of material types, materials selection, corrosion assessment, and materials performance assessment.
* Understanding of paint and lining systems, insulation selection and welding of pressure components.
* Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external clients.
* Capability to work independently in a team environment and manage multiple project responsibilities.
* Demonstrated commitment to constant improvement in engineering activities across diverse geographic, technical, and cultural contexts.
* Familiarity with the application and maintenance of engineering processes, systems, and tools (software).
* Proficiency in MS Office software.
* Full command of the English language, both written and spoken.
