Our Supported Living Services needs you! Your support is essential to helping our adults maintain the independence they work so hard to achieve every day.
In this role, you'll support the Registered Manager with daily operations while also providing invaluable support to both our dedicated team and the adults we support. If you’re seeking a varied role where every day brings something new, this could be the perfect fit! You’ll have a meaningful impact, whether you’re helping someone explore employment and educational opportunities, working with them to achieve their personal goals, or simply enjoying a fun day out together—like attending a festival or singing karaoke in the lounge!
You will face challenges, but nothing beats the feeling of supporting someone to maintain their independence daily. You’ll potentially need to support someone in unexpected ways and offer emotional guidance when needed. You really do need to be open-minded, empathetic, and resilient.
A day in the life of a Deputy Manager will involve:
1. Supporting the Registered Manager with recruitment, team supervisions, meetings, and inspections, ensuring continued compliance with relevant legislation.
2. Spending time helping the manager ensure the team has the skills, experience, and training they need to provide the best support possible for the adults in your care.
3. Supporting our adults to keep their independence and have the best quality of life possible.
4. Working with the team to arrange and plan activities, whether it be cooking in their home, fun days out, or holidays with them.
5. Being on the shared rota for ‘on call’.
To be a successful Deputy Manager, you’ll need:
1. Level 3 in Health and Social or willingness to work towards it within the 1st year of your role.
2. A confident, flexible, resilient personality, understanding of the 24-hour nature of the sector, and a willingness to partake in the ‘on call’ rota.
3. A minimum of two years’ experience in working with adults in a supported living/care setting, ideally with experience of supervising teams.
4. Knowledge of relevant legislation, working procedures, and the ability to demonstrate sound communication and leadership skills.
If you return for your time, you’ll get:
1. Holidays – 28 days annual leave plus an extra day off for your birthday after your first year.
2. Pension scheme – You pay in 5%, and we add 3%.
3. Learning & Development Opportunities – Comprehensive learning opportunities for team members.
4. Discounts – Access to discounts through the Blue Light Card and our employee benefits platform.
5. Wellbeing Support – Access to mental health and wellbeing support, including a monthly confidential check-in clinic and group reflective practice sessions.
6. Cycle2Work – Buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
7. DBS – Enhanced DBS check covered by us, with eligibility for our Medicash scheme after 12 months of service.
8. Life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary.
Please note that as part of our safer recruitment processes, successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and online and social media checks, and reference validation. At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce and ensuring an inclusive environment for all our team members. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
