The Role
As an IT Engineer, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary taking part in a novel programme building critical deployable IT Infrastructure within the Defence environment placing you at the heart of the modernisation of Defence’s deployable IT estate.
Day-to-day, you will:
1. Install and maintain computer hardware and software systems that are built using Windows, VMware and Cisco products, responding to technical support calls and reacting to ITSM support application whilst proactively monitoring complex environments
2. Set up and install new virtual machines, networks and software following work instructions to change components
3. Install and configure operating systems, anti-virus software, other applications and install updates and patches to software applications
4. Diagnose and fix network problems, hardware, software faults and manage backups of servers in case of data loss
5. Work within a team and keeping a record of issues and faults along with any solutions for future reference
6. Maintain network connectivity and accurately record changes
This role is a full-time position based in Corsham and is fully on-site with a 1 in 6 week rotation providing out of hours cover.
Essential experience of the IT Engineer:
7. The ability to work on site in a small team providing incident resolution, fault finding and root cause analysis
8. Experience working/administrating virtualised environments such as VMware, Vcenter or similar virtualised environments
9. Strong experience working with different computer hardware and using and administering Microsoft AD, Group Policy and DNS
10. Experience working with Microsoft servers, Veeam backup and experience working with networks
11. Experience working in complex environments
Qualifications for the IT Engineer:
ITIL V4 Foundation, Microsoft Certified Server Associate, CCNA or relevant technical experience
