Aspiring Youth Justice Worker - Bletchley
This is an ideal LSA role for Criminology and Psychology graduates in a specialist provision for children aged 7-19 who have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The role emphasizes holistic and restorative practices, creating empathy whenever possible. The school focuses on positive reinforcement rather than punitive measures, using manual handling training only when absolutely necessary.
A practical trial day will take place in the school to ensure the role is suitable for you, depending on your availability to start ASAP, your notice period, or if you are finishing University.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Improving students' lives by keeping them safe and demonstrating the value of education.
2. Providing support to children with various needs, including Autism, OCD, and social anxiety.
3. Engaging with students to foster a sense of acceptance and independence, especially for those in assisted living.
4. Utilizing diverse approaches to support students, as traditional talking therapies may not always be effective.
5. Participating in training for SEN and safeguarding, including MAPA training.
The school offers excellent training and support systems, focusing on the cognitive diversity of students and the importance of celebrating even small progress.
