An exciting opportunity has arisen at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust to appoint a substantive Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Applicant is expected to demonstrate experience and training in advance Labour ward practice and should be proficient in general gynaecology. With anticipated increase in population post is key to provide care for patients.
Main duties of the job
This Job is to continue to provide clinical services across south east London and continue to expand our activity across Kent. We are providing outpatient and inpatient care on the Queen Mary's Hospital site in Sidcup, and OPD clinic at Gravesend Community Hospital.
The provisional make-up of the post is described below, pending any changes that are agreed with the Clinical Director and the appointee, within 3 months of appointment. The successful candidate must be on the Specialist Register with the GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCST.

Job responsibilities
The PAs are calculated over a 42 week cycle in which the appointee will do hot weeks (Monday Friday 0830 - 1730). These weeks (or portions thereof) can be swapped but leave cannot be taken during them.
PA (averaged) for the hot weeks.
PA for flexible emergency cover (evenings and weekends)
PA for unpredictable on-call
PAs for other daytime work. (Antenatal, Gynaecology clinic, Gynaecology operating, Caesarean section list) These figures are approximate and will be discussed during the recruitment process.
The activity and timing of the SPAs will be discussed and agreed with the Clinical Director within the first 3 months of the start of the post.
The hours are calculated on the basis of averaged hours and have, on a rotational basis, a hot week during which the appointment will cover the Delivery Suite and gynaecological emergencies. Although there will be a substantial out-of-hours commitment, this will be shared equally with the existing consultants on the rota.

Qualifications and professional training
Essential
1. Full GMC registration
2. MRCOG or equivalent
3. CCT or equivalent ( or within 6 months of CCT)
4. Benign gynaecology ATSM with interest in rapid access and ambulatory care or equivalent.
5. Advance Labour Ward ATSM or equivalent.
Desirable
6. Colposcopy Accreditation or working towards BSCCP colposcopy accreditation
Clinical experience and effectiveness
Essential
7. oClinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
8. Experience of clinical risk management, audit and research.
9. Experience in general gynaecological emergencies and a readiness to take part in the obstetric duty rota to start with
Management and administrative experience
Essential
10. Evidence of management and administrative experience.
Desirable
11. Attendance at management training course.
Teaching and training experience
Essential
12. Wide experience of supervising junior medical staff and teaching and training junior medical staff and midwives/nurses
Desirable
13. Documented evidence of teaching and training courses attended
14. Teaching and lead in simulation and skills and Drills.
