Position Summary
To develop, liaise and deliver packages of construction works within a defined scope overseeing and interfacing with the activity of a number of consortium partners and sub contractors to ensure work is conducted within established safety, quality, schedule and cost standards.
Main Responsibilities
1. Take responsibility for defined ‘packages’ of work through the full construction work-cycle. (Be aware of and contribute to the overall construction plan for construction activities
2. Co-ordinate construction reviews and produce instructions, installation sequencing and method statement documentation and responsibility for providing support to engineers on all construction matters within the consortium partners and sub- contractors (with awareness of the overall work schedule plan).
3. Utilise existing and/or develop new construction methodologies, process and procedures and work in line with existing Business Operating Procedures (BOPs).
4. Assist subordinates in problem solving, exercising considerable judgment and knowledge of construction processes and procedures to determine appropriate solutions.
5. Expected to utilise decision-making latitude and prioritise activities in order to achieve objectives subject to review and approval by the Senior Construction Team member.
6. Demonstrate relevant industry experience and an established knowledge of standard construction principles, theories and practices, as well as a good working knowledge of the wider industry that Altrad Babcock operates in.
7. Liaise with customers/stakeholders within area of construction scope.
8. Completion of activities on time, to the required quality and to target costs.
Main Accountabilities
9. Provide direction to engineers and sub-contractors to ensure that construction tasks are achieved in line with Business Operating Procedures (BOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) within pre-defined safety, quality, schedule and cost standards.
10. Co-ordinate sub-contractors to ensure that all construction activity is conducted in line with company/client safety, quality, schedule and cost standards.
11. Collate relevant documentation ( work instructions, RAMS., installation sequencing) to build, maintain and report accurate event profiles ( cost, resource and schedule forecasts).
12. Delivery of Construction Work Packages in a timely manner.
13. Comply with national laws/regulations and adhere to the Construction Management Process including company-wide & functional BOPs and WIs to act in line with standardised working practices.
14. Ensure implementation of key safety / quality communications, including Focus2Zero and critical task protocols ( error prevention tools), to ensure that all site activity is conducted in line with company/customer standards
15. Delivery of Constriction Work Package documentation in a timely manner.
16. Look for opportunities for efficiency savings and development as well as contributing to project reviews/lessons learned and sharing of best practices in order to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
17. Support delivery of Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives to achieve the expected margin improvement.
18. Meet if not reduce costs for Construction Work Package Delivery.
19. Build and maintain an internal and external (customer, contract partner and supplier) relationship network in order to sustain performance against safety, quality, schedule and cost standards, contribute to decision making and satisfy stakeholder requirements.
20. Liaise with Construction Manager and/or Teams in order to understand key service delivery messages and cascade them effectively to construction team members.
21. Completion and Issue of Reports in a timely manner.

23. Successful completion of assessment and development plans for you and your reports in a timely manner.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required
- General Education
24. Time Served Apprentice / NVQ level 2 /C&G
25. ECITB SMTDS / NVQ Level 3 or 4 ACE
- Professional Qualifications
26. ONC/HNC/HND in Mech./ Elec / Civil / Str / Piping / EC & I Engineering or significant or related experience.
- General
27. IT Skills, Planning and Project Management, Navisworks Freedom, Microsoft Office
28. Knowledge of CDM, Temporary Works and related, Nuclear Contracts
- Experience
29. Minimum of 3 years involvement in Management of Engineering or Construction Activities.

30. Knowledge and application of construction methodologies, procedures and processes delivering work to safety, quality, schedule and cost standards
31. In-depth knowledge and application of Construction Management Process (CMP) appropriate to allotted tasks and associated documentation.
32. In-depth knowledge and application of the requirements of UK/EU Laws and Regulations applicable to construction and engineering tasks.
33. Knowledge and understanding of problem solving and risk management techniques.
34. Good working knowledge of Installation techniques and the wider related engineering construction industry.
35. Experience and application of the Critical Task processes are essential.
36. Extensive experience of minimum safety documentation requirements including risk assessments, method statements COSHH assessments and specialised activities.
