Job summary
Everest House Surgery is located in Hemel Hempstead. We are a small friendly practice looking for an experienced medical secretary on a permanent, part-time basis, to join our secretarial team.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the role include:
1. Providing efficient and comprehensive secretarial support working within a small group of secretaries.
2. Processing of information in a timely manner.
3. Preparing letters, reports, patient referrals.
4. Typing minutes and memorandums.
5. Liaising with the multi-disciplined team members/external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
6. Handling queries regarding hospital appointments and treatments.
7. Ensuring that any requests for information are appropriately dealt with and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately.

Qualifications
Essential
8. Previous experience in a GP/healthcare setting is essential.
9. Secretarial qualification or relevant experience.
10. GCSE grade A-C or equivalent.
11. EMIS clinical system experience is desirable, but training will be provided.
12. Good telephone/communication manner essential.
13. Excellent touch-typing skills.
14. Organised and efficient.
15. Team player with a positive attitude.
16. Methodical approach and able to work under pressure.
17. Good IT skills.
