SEN Teacher
Location: Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire.

GSL Education’s Hull branch is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teacher to work with secondary students who have diverse learning needs. Successful candidate will work at a Alternative Provision located in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire.
About The School:
The school caters specifically to students aged 10-18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) and other associated special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
They provides a tailored education designed to enhance students' personal development, self-esteem, and understanding of the world. Recent inspections noted progress in developing curriculum plans for diverse areas, though some subjects are still evolving.
The school has enhanced its facilities, including medical and therapy rooms, to meet regulatory standards. These improvements have made spaces more suitable for their intended purposes .
While initially registered for a small number of students, the school is actively planning for potential growth. Leadership is focused on aligning its offerings with independent school standards.
SEN Teacher Responsibilities:
Teaching students with special needs on 1:1 or group basis.
Develop, implement, and regularly review IEPs for students, setting realistic and challenging targets in collaboration with other professionals, parents, and the students themselves.
Marking, assessing work and tracking pupil progress.
Developing and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils.
Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to define appropriate activities for pupils in relation to the curriculum.
Be knowledgeable about warning signs and triggers.
Follow Education Health Care Plans to ensure outcomes are met.
Previous working experience with Educational Psychology services, Paediatricians, CAMHS or Therapists is advantageous but not essential.
SEN Teacher Requirements:
Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - or PGCE.
Have 6 months experience working in special needs or alternative provisions.
Have experience working in an SEN or mainstream setting with secondary-age students.
A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Team player who works well within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the overall success of the school and its students.
Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to complete one through GSL Education.
