THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer for our client based in Catterick. The Mechanical Design Engineer will come from a heavy fabrication background within the Oil & Gas sector, although other backgrounds will be acceptable. The Mechanical Design Engineer will take a full cradle to the grave approach from initial order through to end delivery.

THE ROLE
* Primary contact for the client, involving them in the contract execution and managing their expectations during contract fulfilment.
* Determines client and project specifications, objectives, schedule and responsibilities, by reviewing client documentation, identifying customer requirements conferring with the management team.
* Assist and Support the Engineering Manager on delivering company projects from initial conception to final completion, ensuring the projects are accurately completed to schedule.
* Support Design and Project Engineers on the delivery of their projects become secondary contact for clients when necessary and ensuring contract fulfilment.
* Maintain financial diligence through the execution of budget and cost control to help meet projected profitability targets and business results.
* Manage suppliers and contractors to maintain project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and resolving problems.
* Prepares data by collecting, analysing and summarising information for installation, testing, quality, packing, and weekly reports.
* Evaluates systems and products by designing and conducting testing programmes and studying customer requirements.
* Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components.
* Supports sales with the technical analysis of enquiries, evaluating major enquiries, preparing the technical offer, analysing project specifications and designing the technical solution.
* Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the organisations Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Policies.
* At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions, working with the management team to implement these within your team.
THE PERSON
* Degree/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline HND must be accompanied with relatable work experience. Alternative qualifications may be considered acceptable.
* Demonstrated leadership experience.
* Experience in a technical role involving project planning and cost control.
* Must have excellent communication, problem solving, and organisational skills; including the ability to communicate with internal & external customer contacts. Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organisation.
* Strong knowledge of CAD modelling and drawings with experience in design analysis. Experience with Solidworks is a plus.
* Good understanding of manufacturing processes including, machining and fabrication as a minimum.
* Must have excellent understanding of Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Standards, with a focus on creating improvement standards that are based on the practices of root cause analysis.
* Must possess a high level of initiative and independent decision-making ability with the willingness to work flexibly.
* Ability to meet targets and deadlines.
* UK Full Driving Licence.
