Role: Registered Hospital Manager,
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

4. You will need be a Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD) with current NMC registration.
About our Hospital
Aberavon Hospital provides rehabilitation and recovery for people with complex, severe and enduring mental health challenges. Referrals will be accepted from medium/ low secure hospitals, PICU, acute admissions and the Criminal Justice System. Patients will be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.
Rushcliffe Aberavon is an 18 bedded locked rehabilitation unit for males between the age of 18 and 65.
Requirements for a Registered Hospital Manager
As a Registered Manager, you'll need to know about the business side, as the facility is still a business, so you'll be expected to know what influences decision making at senior level. You'll also need to understand how these decisions affect the patients and staff. By having this knowledge, you'll be a better leader and a more efficient manager. Lead a care team to provide high-quality care which makes a real difference to the service users lives. Supported by the team you will focus on the day-to-day operations of the hospital. Inspiring your team to adhere to the high standards of care, you will be the heart of the hospital, managing the overall direction, strategy, and vision for both staff and patients.

Key responsibilities for the Registered Manager
5. Effectively manage the budget and allocate resources, accordingly, monitoring performance to deliver high-quality hospital service within budget.
6. Leadership and financial knowledge, responsible for managerial duties, managing revenue and expenses, performance ratios, financial planning, forecasting, cash flow, billing.
7. Ensure care standards meet; and indeed, exceed the requirements of the Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 and the HIW.
8. Ensure all team members are up to date with mandatory training and remaining up to date with research developments, legislative changes, and current practices within healthcare.
9. Have knowledge of PCS, creating a culture of technology use to enhance the lives of residents.
10. Ensure the staff are clear about their responsibilities and duties and provide the support needed to carry out roles safely and effectively.
11. Ensure all legal, regulatory, and best practice guidelines are met.
12. Create, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external professionals, including agencies, HIW inspectors and local service commissioners.
13. Meet resident’s ever-changing needs with dignity and respect by developing and regularly reviewing Care Plans.
14. Manage recruitment, retention, training, motivation, and communication of staff; Conducting appraisals and disciplinary action as required.
The Ideal Registered Manager
15. Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a LD or mental health environment, as an experienced registered Hospital Manager, would look at a strong experienced Deputy Manager or Registered Nurse Manager
16. QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent/ working towards
17. Clinical experience would be preferred
18. Excellent understanding of the regulatory responsibilities of a Registered Manager and the law relating to care services within Wales.
19. Ability to actively market and promote the service in a positive personal and professional profile within the community.
20. Experience of improving HIW ratings, working towards Outstanding.
21. Demonstrable values and a commitment to leading and supporting a diverse team of staff.
22. Knowledge of health and safety matters in relation to hospital care services and risk management
23. The ability to develop and maintain a safe, harmonious environment for staff and residents.
24. Emphasising professional development and teamwork at all times.
25. Registered Manager with HIW.
26. High level of literacy, numeracy and administrative skills and attention to detail
27. Experience in building positive working relationships with patients, their families, staff and other health and social care professionals.
28. Experience in managing and developing an effective staff team including recruitment, training, supporting and supervising staff.
