Hatched Recruitment is looking for a Employment Advisor will work with Haringey residents furthest from the job market to provide information, introductions, advice, guidance to support residents into good work in line with Opportunity Haringey.
Ths will be achieved through group work as well as one to one interactions with residents. We are seeking to appoint an experienced employment advisor preferably with High Street recruitment experience who have experience of rapid recruitment and business engagement.
Role Purpose
The post holder will work with Haringey residents furthest from the job market to provide information, introductions, advice, guidance to support residents into good work in line with Opportunity Haringey.
The post holder will actively work to meet the needs of those residents furthest from the regulated job market and those who may be less likely to seek support through a preventative neighbourhood based approach.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities are intended to be a guide to the range and level of work expected by the post holder. This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks that may fall to the post holder and employees will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
1. Initiate conversations with residents around their employment goals, gaining an understanding of their potential barriers to employment and how Haringey Works can support them in achieving Good Work.
2. Provide one to one employment support to residents both those unemployed and those seeking to progress within employment working towards the Council priority of ensuring all residents benefit from good economic growth
3. Engage in outreach activities to provide employability support.
4. Provide information, introductions, advice, guidance in community settings. Be guided by the resident to ensure support is 'done with' not 'done to'
5. Where appropriate achieve a progression of employment; out of zero hours, out of temporary contract status or higher fixed salary.
Experience and Knowledge
Understanding of Welfare Benefit rules and how these affect unemployed, disabled people with health and social care needs and/ or mental ill health conditions, returning to work. Also, an understanding of in-work benefits
Good understanding of the barriers preventing residents from engaging with support linked to employment, education and training
Experience of working in a solutions-focussed person-centred way and able to assess suitability of provision from an asset-based approach
