Your Role As a Software Engineer with us, you’ll: Contribute to our established Perl codebase, adding features and resolving customer issues Assist in developing our next-generation tech stack Work on software design, testing, and integration with our custom embedded devices Collaborate with cloud, electronics, and service teams to develop effective engineering solutions About Best.Energy Our mission is to create more energy-efficient, sustainable environments. Key Responsibilities Support the Eniscope development team to enhance software for our unique hardware Ensure design and implementation are effective and on schedule Innovate in a growth industry with integration into our cloud platform and data analysis tools Participate in daily Zoom stand-ups to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions in a lightweight agile environment What We’re Looking For Strong communication skills with a positive attitude Proficiency in coding for embedded Linux environments using languages like Perl (experience with new languages is a plus) Ability to work well across teams, including cloud engineering and electronic design Familiarity with embedded systems and ideally IoT; knowledge of internet security is beneficial Understanding of commercial electrical systems (three-phase power knowledge is a bonus) Our Current Stack Primary: Perl, PHP, Linux, MQTT, LoRa (wireless), Modbus Work Environment: Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Google Workspace Considering for Our New Stack Golang, Docker, RabbitMQ Life at Best.Energy We’re on a mission with a supportive, inclusive culture and custom-designed Bristol HQ.
