1. To deputise for the Ward Manager as/when appropriate and required.
2. To lead on Clinical Practice or the Learning Ward
3. Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care to a named group of patients
4. Work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
5. Work proactively within the team to achieve unit and trust goals and objectives.
6. Work with and promote recognised policies, protocols and guidelines
Main duties of the job
7. Responsible for their practice as per NMC code of conduct. Sustain/ improve their knowledge/professional competence, via the appraisal process, attend mandatory/specific training.
8. Plan/assess care plans with patient, family and MDT, sensitive to patients dignity and privacy.
9. Promote effective communication with the MDT.
10. Recommend innovative changes in clinical practice to enhance care.
11. Participate in audit processes/action outcomes.
12. Demonstrate understanding of research and application to clinical practice. Use clinical expertise/knowledge to promote a 'nurse led' approach to care.
13. Ensure safe control/custody of drugs within the ward/department in line with Trust Policy/Standard Operating Procedures.
14. Inform Ward Manager of changes which may affect safe/competent that patient care is documented accurately and timely.
15. Deputise for and complete delegated tasks from Ward Manager
16. Ensure efficient use of ward/department resources.
17. Leadership to members of the ward, promote effective team work.
18. Be responsible for monitoring staffing levels/skill mix to ensure appropriate to meet the needs of patients, take action to rectify identified deficits through ward manager/modern matron.
19. Maintain a positive approach to success within the team.
20. Assist with induction/act as role model to new staff/students.
21. To ensure that patients and carers are aware of their current and ongoing health needs.
22. To participate/promote clinical supervision.

Foxley Ward delivers quality and patient centred care within our 24-32 bedded unit providing rehabilitation to a wide group of patients with varying complexities of needs. The ward also provides palliative and end of life care. The successful candidate will receive support and development through in service training, regular appraisals, personal development plan and clinical supervision.
Dereham Hospital is set in beautiful grounds on the outskirts of the market town. The historic city of Norwich is only a 35 minute drive, the spectacular North Norfolk Coast is a 45 minute drive.
