About the role:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Data to lead our data strategy and operations within our energy supply business. As the Head of Data, you will play a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights, driving our business forward, and ensuring we remain a leader in the energy market. The Head of Data will be based in Leeds, this is a permanent role working full time Monday to Friday working 2 days from the office.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Develop and execute the Energy Supply UK’s data strategy in alignment with business objectives
2. Define and deliver the divisional Management Information strategy, creating the target state reports enabling business insight and improved controls
3. Lead the design and implementation of scalable data architecture and infrastructure
4. Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and compliance
5. Manage Data Engineering team responsible for data collection, storage, and processing
6. Manage Management Information team responsible for internal and external reporting
7. Collaborate with business leaders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to solve business challenges.
8. Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organisation
9. Oversee data analytics projects and ensure quality and timely delivery
10. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in data management and analytics
11. Create a data network across the data population in Energy Supply UK
12. Collaborate with the Head of IT and Head of Transformation to identify and execute data projects
13. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR,) and industry best practices
Experience:
14. Leadership of large-scale data teams or programmes - £4m+
15. Previous experience of the Energy Industry, preferably B2B markets
16. Previous demonstrable experience in successfully dealing with senior stakeholders up to Board level
17. Experience in managing challenging and complex client & supplier engagements
18. Experience in dealing with complex negotiations with suppliers
19. Proven leadership of data functions
20. Resource planning for large scale projects / programmes
21. Proven ability to lead and manage cross functional teams
Knowledge and skills:
22. Exceptional communicator and experienced in managing multiple challenging stakeholders with an ability to shape and influence decisions at executive level.
23. Thrive under pressure, but also be able to think strategically and plan for future growth, structure and scale
24. Expertise in leading data transformation in medium to large organisations and have a successful track record of implementing and transforming ways of working at scale.
25. Must be a strategic thinker, good relationship building skills and a self-starter
26. Ability to quickly grasp understanding of businesses and be able to identify business drivers for success, process and approaches to business models
27. Knowledge of electricity and gas UK Retail business processes and systems preferable
Qualifications:
28. Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline or specific related experience
29. Expertise in data modelling, database design, ETL processes, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
30. Proficiency in programming languages for data manipulation and analysis (e.g., SQL, Python, R)
31. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies
