About the role
We’re looking to recruit a Policy Adviser to join our Policy Solutions team tasked with consolidating and refreshing our existing policy expertise as well as with developing creative policy solutions to some of the world’s most difficult and pressing challenges.
As Policy Adviser you will work closely with one of our energy corporate partners and focus on influencing policy related to accelerating the deployment of low carbon technologies in the home and making sure we are decarbonising the UK’s energy and heating sector. You will get involved on wider net zero policy in the climate team as well as climate and land use, working with the UK government and key stakeholders too. Your remit will include analysing existing and proposed policies for effectiveness and quality as well as researching new policy ideas. You will also produce technical reports, coordinate activity with regional colleagues and develop links and strategic relationships with other organisations to maximise our impact.

We’re looking for someone with:

Experience and knowledge in climate policy.

An understanding of how policy is developed and influenced, how policy and politics interact and how one can be used to influence the other.

Experience of carrying out and commissioning research.
*
Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
*
An understanding of the opportunities and challenges that arise from working on issues across the whole of the UK.

This role is hybrid and you’ll be required to be in the office 20% of your contracted hours. The job is based at our UK head office, the Living Planet Centre in Woking, Surrey. The Living Planet Centre is one of the greenest buildings in the UK, and you’ll hot desk among trees and gardens.
