JOB TITLE: Software Engineer(Backend)
SALARY:£45,954-51,060 perannum
LOCATION(S):Halifax or Leeds
HOURS:Full-time – 35 hours perweek
WORKING PATTERN:Our work style is hybrid, which involvesspending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at ouroffices in either Halifax or Leeds. Unfortunately, we can’tconsider applications that can’t come into one of the abovespecified offices at thistime.

Anexciting opportunity has arisen within the Identity &Authentication Platform, which is responsible for deliveringcapabilities to enable secure client and digital authentication andidentity across all the bank’s digitalchannels.
We are looking for asoftware engineer with experience in back-end developmentusing Java to join our growingengineering team. You’ll be responsible for developinghigh-quality, scalable services as part of our microservices-basedarchitecture, while continuing to build your skills with the latesttools and frameworks.
In this role,you’ll get the chance to work on exciting projects that impactmillions of users, while contributing to the development andoptimization of critical back-end systems.
What will you be doing withus?
* Develop, test,and deploy high-quality back-end services using Java and relatedtechnologies.
* Developcontainerized applications using Docker and deploy them inKubernetesenvironments.
* PracticeTest-Driven Development (TDD), ensuring that code is thoroughlytested and of the highestquality.
* Collaboratewith other engineers, product managers, and designers to deliverhigh-performance, integrated back-endservices.
* Support theintegration of back-end services with front-end components andthird-partyAPIs.
* Participate in codereviews, helping to maintain coding standards and improve teamperformance.
* Work closelywith the DevOps team to deploy and monitor services in cloudenvironments.
* Continuouslyexplore new technologies, contributing to the ongoing improvementof the architecture and techstack

WHAT YOU’LLNEED
We’rekeeping an open mind for the recruitment of this role. However, asa minimum, you should demonstrate experience in the belowskills:
SoftwareEngineering experience – Java
* Proven experienceas a software engineer with a strong focus on back-end developmentusing Java.
* Hands-onexperience in building and maintaining microservices using Java andSpringBoot.
Containerisation
* Familiarity withcontainerized applications (Docker) and deploying them inKubernetesenvironments.
Agileexperience
* Experience workingin Agile environments, particularly within Scrumteams.
Communicationskills
* Solidcommunication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in across-functionalteam.
Andwe are looking for people that demonstrate professional curiosityand a willingness to learn, grow, and explore new back-endtechnologies.
Desirable:
* Familiaritywith authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth2,JWT, or IAM.
* Familiaritywith cloud platforms, such as GCP orAzure.
* Experience withrelational and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL,MongoDB).
* Knowledge of CI/CDpipelines and automated testingpractices.
