We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Buyer to join our client's procurement team in Chesterfield.
Job Summary: The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that meet the company’s standards for quality, cost, and delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely availability of materials to support our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to ensure the availability of high-quality materials and services.
2. Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities.
3. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best possible pricing and delivery schedules.
4. Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, quality, and continuous improvement.
5. Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
6. Collaborate with internal departments to understand their needs and ensure alignment of procurement activities.
7. Analyse and report on procurement metrics to drive process improvements and cost savings.
8. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
9. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a procurement or buying role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
10. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
11. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
12. Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
13. Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
14. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
15. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
16. Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent.
17. Experience with Microsoft 365 MRP system.
18. Familiarity with sustainability practices and green procurement initiatives.
