The role
As a Shiplift Rigger you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will join out Babcock team to undertake rigging activities and conduct operations on Shiplift systems and equipment.
Day-to-day, you’ll ensure completion of all planned preventative maintenance to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
1. Completion of all defect and repair activity to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
2. Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity and safety in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
3. Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes in accordance with BM&T Clyde policies.
4. Operate Shiplift systems and equipment in accordance with relevant procedures.
5. Undertake mentoring where required for personnel in the operation & maintenance of Shiplift systems and equipment.
6. Conduct Berthing & Docking activities.
7. Perform any reasonable task within your existing skills and capability, as directed.
This position involves working at height. Candidates must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Faslane.
Essential experience of the Shiplift Rigger
8. Experience of inspection and changing of wire ropes
9. Knowledge of Crane maintenance
10. Slinging and Fleeting experience
11. Experience in handling maintenance documentation
Qualifications for the Shiplift Rigger
12. Recognised Rigging Apprenticeship or equivalent is essential

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
