FLUENT WELSH SPEAKER ONLYMAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Cost Accountant will work alongside thepany’s in-house contractor. The purpose of this role is to provide real-time and reliable financial information to support all repairs and maintenance works to empty and tenanted properties, as well as undertaking investment works via a planned programme.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCost Accounting
1. Report to ‘Senior Managers’ in clear and concise terms, providing timely, accurate financial and management information.
2. Analysing and assessing data to determine monthly costs, including labour rates, materials and overheads.
3. To provide accurate and timely monthly management account information including variance analysis, to operational managers and budget holders, and to deal with resultant queries
4. To create detailed forecasts from interpreted costs.
5. Establish an in depth understanding of costs and outputs for the purposes of;
6. Developing cost-saving strategies.
7. Determining the accuracy of financial records
8. Analysis of data related to any aspect of operational costs.
9. To design and create new financial reports to assist decision making
Management Accounting :
10. Assist the Group Finance Business Partner with producing the annual budgets and forecasts, including uploading budgets to the financial system.
11. To prepare the monthly management accounts and year-end reports in-line with agreed deadlines.
12. To arrange and attend regular budget monitoring meetings with budget holders and the Group Finance Business Partner.
13. To assist in the production of monthly, quarterly and annual Financial Performance indicators
14. To be responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register in relation to the Vehicles & Plant stock
15. To assist with the preparation of the year end statutory accounts.
16. To be the point of contact with external auditors during the audit of the accounts ensuring that they are provided with all relevant working papers and explanations.
17. To ensure that proper books and records are maintained toply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
18. Fluent Welsh
19. Part Qualified or Fully Qualified Accountant
20. Experience (minimum of 1 year), either in current role or previous of Cost Accounting
21. Significant experience of working with cost monitoring, cost versus budget analysis and asset management systems.
22. Preparation of budgets, management accounts and year-end reports
23. Experience of working in the housing sector / building construction environment
