Holy Redeemer-Saint James the Less is a welcoming community of joyful Catholics and presents an ideal position for somebody with a passion for community music making who can recruit and train volunteer cantors and choristers.. The cantor, organ, and choir-led Masses at Holy Redeemer include a broad range of musical genres; Breaking Bread is in the pews, and the predominantly English-speaking assembly has most recently sung in English, Latin, Spanish, and Tagalog. The SATB choir of spirited amateurs sings with great sensitivity, has a love of classical music and sings 12 months of the year. They are not afraid of hard work! Good 3 manual Rogers digital organ with MIDI and antiphonal speakers in a beautiful acoustic: the congregation appreciates the organ being played with creativity and vigor. Good, responsive Yamaha upright piano with mute pedal. Extremely deferential and supportive clergy. Competitive part-time pay.
Requirements
1. Creative and collaborative disposition
2. Strong service playing skills on organ and piano
3. Experience in congregational and choral repertory appropriate for a good amateur choir
4. Previous Catholic experience helpful
5. Vocal experience helpful
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
